Helvetikuss – TOURBO music

Helvetikuss

Neue Schweizer Volksmusik

Fresh, funny, virtuoso, touching

HELVETIKUSS was and is the band for the “Circus Lapsus Show”. Now the ensemble, led by the Zug composer and clarinetist Mathias Landtwing, is taking the step onto the concert stages of Switzerland, now as a quartet.

Inspired by the artists' movements, momentum and choreography, band leader Mathias Landtwing has found suitable elements in Swiss folk music, written creative arrangements and composed new pieces. He uses traditional dances such as Ländler, Schottisch, Polka, but also yodels and Juchzer in a fresh guise. A beat can turn out odd, a chord can sound unusual, a classic can be presented in a surprising way. Sometimes with a wink or a pinch of humor, but always with respect for tradition.

The band HELVETIKUSS Quartett brings together great talents from the new Swiss folk music generation. All musicians are - like Mathias Landtwing - firmly rooted in tradition, but have developed further instrumentally and musically. They celebrate (new) folk music with virtuosity, without being afraid to try out other styles. They skilfully combine tradition and innovation with an infectious joy of playing.
